Estelle Shircore Barker - Piano teacher

Growing up in Victoria, Estelle has performed and found success in many competitions and eisteddfods. In 2017 she was awarded her AMusA in piano. She was runner-up for Musical Society of Victoria’s Nehama Patkin Award and received an honorary mention in the Hephzibah Menuhin Memorial Awards. She was the regional runner-up for the Australian Youth Classical Music Competition two years running. Estelle was winner of Royal South Street Competition’s Lucy Harkness Prize for Piano, participated in the Chopin Competition and was invited to the prestigious South Street Chopin masterclass for the performance. She was a scholarship recipient at the Team of Pianists Spring School. As one of the top students in the state with a score of 47 VCE VET Music Performance, Estelle was also privileged to be selected to perform in the Elizabeth Murdoch Hall of the Melbourne Recital Center as part of ‘Top Class’, the Victorian Curriculum of Education’s showcase for the top students in the state.

Estelle has held numerous solo recitals in Sydney and in her hometown of Apollo Bay both independently and as a featured artist in the Winter Wild Arts Festival. Estelle enjoys collaborating with other musicians and has been involved in the debuts of multiple works by young Australian composers. Estelle is also a passionate chamber musician, and recently went on tour of NSW supported by the Austrian National Tourism Office with the Forelle Ensemble, whose debut was described by Limelight Magazine as “tremendously polished.” She also enjoys performing as a collaborative pianist, and has performed with many other young artists around Sydney.

Estelle loves both to learn and to pass on what she has learnt. She has a holistic approach to teaching and understanding the piano and believes in making learning music fun, engaging and accessible. Through her own extensive performance and teaching experience, she has a wide range of experience to draw from. She fundamentally believes that learning music should enrich one’s life and works to help her students achieve that.
